IVC FILTER PLACEMENT

  3. Placement of IVC Filter: Once the catheter reaches the inferior vena cava, the collapsed IVC filter is advanced through the catheter and positioned in the desired location within the vein.

  4. Deployment of IVC Filter: The IVC filter is then carefully deployed or expanded to its full size, creating a mesh-like structure that traps blood clots or emboli traveling through the bloodstream, preventing them from reaching the lungs or heart.

  5. Removal of Catheter: Once the IVC filter is securely in place, the catheter is removed, and pressure is applied to the insertion site to prevent bleeding. The incision is typically small and may not require stitches.
